If a business is to function at its optimal level, the business administrator’s skills need to go beyond basic management of information and resources. Administrators perform a key function connecting personnel and knowledge, and they need to be able to write articulately, problem solve, and manage relationships. In doing this, understanding of legal and business policies is important.
This qualification develops knowledge and skills in the management of records, comprehension of written and verbal texts, business writing, problem solving, ethics, cultural awareness, self-management and self-development, project teamwork and business policies and procedures. Through its elective component, the qualification enables the learner to specialize in areas of administration such as reception, executive administration, financial literacy, relationship management, legal knowledge, communication, project administration and support, call centre administration and human resources.
This qualification is run over 12 months and includes, on average, 5 days of theory training each month.
Flexibility is important to us and our different training delivery methods offer delegates the opportunity to train at their work premises, at home in the comfort of their own environment or at SA Business School’s facilities.
We have three primary training delivery methods; Online Learning, Blended Learning and instructor-led learning.
This Qualification is for any individual who is or wishes to be involved in the Administration function within any industry, or non-commercial venture/organization. This Qualification is intended to enhance the provision of service within the field of Administration within all business and non-commercial sectors. The Qualification ensures progression of learning, enabling the learner to meet standards of service excellence required within the Administration field of learning, through building day-to-day Administration skills as well as general operational.

On achieving this Qualification, the learner will:
- Have knowledge of the procedures for stock and fixed asset control
- Develop administrative systems together with other employees
- Present information that is routinely and regularly required, as well as specific information that is requested from time-to-time
- Manage service providers (available on request)
- Plan and organise own work
- Establish and maintain sound working relationships
- Comply with the organisation’s ethics and code of conduct
- Maintain files and records as required
- Set personal goals and develop and manage him/herself in a business context
- Be aware of how fraud can be present in an office environment and assisting in its control
- Display cultural awareness in dealing with customers and colleagues and utilising the differences in a positive way to enhance the effectiveness and image of the organisation
- Identify and solve work-related problems together with others in the section
- Apply efficient time management processes, procedures and techniques
- Conduct basic research projects in relation to the administrative function
